Graham’s World of Art

Welcome to my artistic passion as an experimenting oil painter. It’s my third career.

How did I get inspired?

Although I never took a formal art lesson until 16 years ago, I always had a curiosity and interest in visual creativity. I have particularly been inspired by some great Canadian oil painters, as well as some very talented artists and designers I met during my working years in marketing communications and advertising in Canada and globally. Their work, passion and commitment ignited me. But it wasn’t until I met my mentor and long-time instructor, Klaas Hart, that I started to learn “how to paint”.

So here I am now working in my home studio after my Hartworks colleagues and I shut down our Industrial Street studio because of COVID.

What fuels my passion for Art?

I have been extremely fortunate to learn from talented professional artists and instructors. The first and most influential has been Klaas Hart, but the varied talents and approaches of John Lennard and Andrew Judd have broadened me significantly. I have benefited from instruction at the Avenue Road of Art, workshops at Evergreen Brickworks and most recently there has been a new chapter in my art life with my Hartworks colleagues at our Studio 215 on Industrial Street. I am with them weekly and they inspire and challenge me. What great fun!
